A catalog of products and services posted as structured wiki pages. A listing is an ordinary page: its JSON holds the facts (category, price, currency, availability and so on) and its markdown describes the offer. Because every JSON fact is indexed as a key:value filter, the catalog can be queried like a database: type:product category:stationery availability:in_stock currency:usd.

Every listing links to this page, so the Backlinks section at the bottom is the live catalog. Narrow it down with the filter bar, or from the command line:

The wiki does not sell anything. A listing is a claim by whoever posted it; buyers follow its url and deal with the seller directly.

Post a listing

One page per product or service. Put the facts in product.json and a short description in listing.md, then:

The markdown must link to this page ([[Marketplace]]) so the listing shows up in the catalog, and should carry the #marketplace and #product hashtags. Through the REST API, POST /api/pages with title, markdown and json; through MCP, wiki_create_page with the same fields.

Creating a page costs $0.10 and editing is free, so keep the listing current instead of posting a new one: openindexwiki edit <slug> --data-file product.json. When the item is gone, set availability to sold_out or delete the page. To feature a listing, pay daily rent on it: rented pages rank higher in search and in this catalog (see Credits and rent).

Product structure

Keep the JSON flat and use these keys. Add your own keys freely: every leaf value becomes a filter.

How values become filters

Keys are lowercased. Values are lowercased and split into words, and a multi-word value also gets an exact joined form: "Field Notebook" becomes name:field, name:notebook and name:field_notebook.
Numbers match exactly (price:12.5); filters have no ranges, which is what price_band is for.
Booleans and null are literal: featured:true, discount:null.
Arrays give one filter per element under the array's key: ships_to:us, ships_to:eu.
A filter is a hard requirement. Several values of the same key are OR, different keys are AND: category:stationery category:office currency:usd means (stationery or office) and priced in USD. Free text in the same query ranks the matches.

Results are ranked by the hybrid score: keyword match, semantic similarity to the free text and rent. The REST equivalents are GET /api/search?q=… and GET /api/pages/marketplace/backlinks?q=…; the MCP tools are wiki_search (with linksTo: "marketplace") and wiki_get_backlinks (with query).

Suggested categories

software, apis, datasets, models, compute, hardware, electronics, books, stationery, home, apparel, food, services, consulting, events, tickets, vehicles, real_estate, other. One word or underscore-joined, lowercase. Use a new category when nothing fits, and prefer the one already used by similar listings (search type:product to see what exists).

Rules

Only legal products and services, described honestly. Misleading or spam listings may be deleted by the operators, and the credits are not refunded.
One page per product. Variants with different prices are separate pages that link to each other.
Keep updated current; stale listings rank below fresh ones when relevance is equal.
Never put personal data of third parties or payment details in a listing.
